Banyoles

The Museu Darder Espai d’Interpretació de l’Estany is a new generation museum facility. Its up-to-date museological path is focused on the constant interrelation between the museum and the area surrounding it, with a clear naturalist component.

This is a museum with a long history and an age-old heritage base which is still shown today, as the museum opens its doors to the city and area that surrounds it and gives it a sense of being: the Estany and the lakeside area of the Estany de Banyoles.

The reformation and refurbishment of the Museum was unveiled to the public on April 12th, 2007. The facility, formerly called the Museu Darder d’Història Natural, was inaugurated in 1916. It is the second oldest museum in the area, and one of oldest active museums in the whole of Catalonia.

Opening hours:
Winter
September 1st to June 30th
Tuesday to Saturday from 10.30 to 13.30, and from 16.00 to 18.30
Sundays from 10.30 to 14.00

Summer
From July 1st to August 31st
Tuesday to Saturday from 10.30 to 13.30, and from 16.00 to 19.30
Sundays from 10.30 to 14.00

Mondays: closed all year round

Midweek holidays, bank holidays and special festivals: check with the museum.
